About Us
Our Mission
The mission of LabRP is to promote quality of life and social inclusion for individuals with psychiatric disabilities and/or those facing social exclusion, as well as to support all who interact with them. Guided by the vision of a dignified, open, and inclusive society, LabRP strives to create opportunities and foster environments where everyone can thrive.
The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Laboratory is located in the city of Porto, Portugal. Is affiliated with the School of Health of the Polytechnic of Porto and the Faculty of Psychology and Education Science of the University of Porto.
It is a space for intervention, research, education and training, dedicated to promoting functionality, social inclusion and quality of life for people with experience of mental illness or in situations of social exclusion.

Training for professionals
Enhancing the training of healthcare professionals in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation to improve their skills and knowledge.
Research projects
Conducting research projects focused on generating and disseminating knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of the various factors influencing the recovery process of individuals experiencing mental illness and/or social exclusion.
Promotion of quality of life
Rehabilitation and promotion of quality of life and social inclusion for its primary target audience through the implementation of initiatives aimed at developing functional skills, utilizing resources to support integration, and combating stigma and other factors associated with social exclusion.
Understanding of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Promotion and dissemination of knowledge regarding the specificities of Psychosocial Rehabilitation achieved through coordination with other stakeholders, particularly those integrated into the national psychiatric care and mental health referral network.

Rehabilitation Center
This initiative is a collaborative partnership with the Nova Aurora Association, primarily focused on the psychosocial rehabilitation and social reintegration of individuals experiencing mental illness. Its core mission is to provide comprehensive support, empowering these individuals to overcome the challenges and limitations imposed by their condition, ultimately enabling them to achieve a more fulfilling and improved quality of life..
Consulting
This initiative is developed in partnership with the Continuing Education Service and aims to support organizations working in the fields of psychosocial rehabilitation, psychiatry, and mental health. It integrates the Recovery paradigm and evidence-based practices, focusing on assisting organizations in enhancing their quality assurance and management processes. Additionally, it supports the development of systems to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided, ensuring better outcomes for individuals and communities.
Counselling
Empower individuals with mental illness and/or those in situations of social exclusion to make informed personal decisions. Among its key objectives are fostering self-determination and building trust within its primary target audience, aiming to enhance overall well-being, improve quality of life, and promote active social participation.
Mentoring
LabRP boasts a team of experienced and highly qualified professionals who, through ongoing mentoring relationships, provide dedicated support to enhance both professional activities and career development.
Development
Advanced technological development. LabRP designs and implements virtual and augmented reality environments to foster empathy toward individuals with mental illness, raise mental health literacy among the general population, and integrate these technologies into therapeutic programs, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of interventions by healthcare professionals.
